Why we built this
Connection over casual.
Small talk is what happens when two people do not have a shared reference yet. We think the reference already exists. You just could not find it fast enough.
The problem is not what you want to say.
You know exactly what you mean. The look. The line. The scene your whole family quotes. The trouble starts when you go to find it. You type a word, and the search gives you back the word, not the meaning. It does not know that the same saying lands three different ways depending on who is in the chat.
Keyword search was built for everybody, which means it was built for nobody in particular. Culture does not work that way. Culture is specific. It has a region, a decade, and a tone of voice.
"How you doing?"
Polite. Forgettable. The conversation has to start from zero.
"Wah gwan."
Same question. Now the other person knows where you are from, how you talk, and that they can relax.
What Cuhȧya does.
Cuhaya is the culturally-indexed expression platform. It surfaces stills, short-form video, and expressive images by cultural meaning, not keywords, so people from the culture can say exactly what they mean.
You type what you would actually say. We read it the way a person from the culture would read it, then hand you the moment that fits. Behind that is a proprietary Cultural Metadata Taxonomy, built from how Black America and the Caribbean diaspora actually talk, and a curated library where every moment keeps its receipt: where it came from, who made it, and where you can watch the whole thing.
Our why
To carry the fullness of who we are into every digital exchange, so in person begins with depth, not small talk.
What we hold ourselves to.
- The culture is the authority. Our vocabulary is approved by people from the communities it describes, never by a model alone.
- Every moment keeps its receipt.Source, year, and a route back to the original. We index culture. We do not host it.
- We never put words in your mouth.A term in Patois stays in Patois. You say it in slang, it stays in slang. We do not translate you into something flatter.
- Your five are yours. What you pick in the game tells us how people describe themselves through media. We use it to make the index truer. We do not sell it.
Where we are now.
Private beta across our target audience. The five-moments game is how you get in during beta. Cuhȧya itself is built on who you are and how you speak.
We are bringing culture to your fingertips and beyond.
Play the game to get your read and your place in the beta, or join the waitlist for launch.

Moment titles and sources belong to their owners and are credited on every card. Cuhȧya is a curated index, not a host.
